Incoming

I was somewhat dismayed to find Housemartins had set up home in the apex of my eaves whilst I was staying at Cols a few weeks ago :-/

Had them before at one of our houses a good few years ago, noisy & messy!

This time their nest is over my study not my bedroom so the chicks dont wake me up at dawn at least. Down side is the nest is directly above my patio doors from the kitchen. The doors, the glass, the paving, even my half moon planter are all covered in you know what :-(

The chicks are quite big now, the parents had broken off a section of the nest to aid feeding, it landed in my planter and snapped off one of my surfinas :-/

Its nice to sit & watch the parents feeding the chicks, but I will be glad when they are gone to be honest. I need to figure out a way to block the apex to deter a return/repeat next year!
