Again!
I've Blipped this before I know. It was too hot today to spend ages wandering around looking for a Blip though. The only other photo I have taken was of a spider eating a ladybird and I could not bring myself to inflict that on my fellow Blippers.
I had a brief wander round town, got a birthday present for Grace and a couple of bargain charity shop books, drank an iced fruit tea, and then walked home.
Wigan play Huddersfield tonight. It will be our first home game for quite a few weeks. Prior to the game there will be a celebration of our legendary player, Billy Boston being the first Rugby League player to receive a knighthood. He started out as a Union player but switched codes after facing racism and lack of opportunity in Welsh Rugby Union.
I'm not a fan of knighthoods in principal, but I'm very glad that Rugby League finally has its first recognition at this level after 130 years, though it would have been better if they could have honoured Billy before he became a dementia sufferer. He's been a trailblazer in many ways - a record try scorer, and the first person of colour to represent Great Britain on a Lions tour. There are statues of him in Wigan and his hometown of Cardiff, also a stand at Wigan's ground is named in his honour.
Hopefully all this will inspire our current crop to up their game again!
