A Buttermere reflection
We followed Marpaul’s advice and got to Buttermere early. Well early for us. We could have done with being there at 7.00am not 9.00am.
However, for a brief moment on the circuit the mere was calm and still, no swimmers, dogs, kayakers or birds to disturb the surface. We think that the Buttermere circuit must be one of the best anywhere. Having walked it so many times in inclement weather it was a treat to to walk it in excellent conditions.
When we got around to Horse Close I joined many others in a swim in the mere. It was just magical. In the water with that panoramic view of all those fells. A first wild swim in the lakes of the Lakes.
The afternoon was an unexpected treat as Susan’s niece and family came to visit us. They’re staying with friends in Bassenthwaite. We went back to the Wellyjersey cafe we were for yesterday’s blip meet and had a good time. Drove to Crummock Water where Dada and O took to the water. O on a paddleboard offered by someone nearby and Dada for a swim.
We ended up, as is our wont, at the Kirkstile Inn for a Friday evening drink before the family went back to their friends
I like the extra better as a photo
