True blue...
It's been hot hot hot!
Shoulder still sore. I start the day with some gentle shoulder movement excises to loosen me up at bit. I think it helps. Part of me wonders if I should hold off till I see the physio on Tuesday incase I'm making things worse, but it feels good (mentally) to do something.
After yesterday's palaver, I didn't fully close the shower door this morning. D put towels on the floor to catch any stray water. They were soaking when I got out.
I can't understand the current trend for open showers (no enclosures or only enclosed on two or three sides) as the bathroom must get soaked. The Northumbrian holiday cottage we're staying at in December has an enclosure-less shower (and no, it's not a wet room, that's a different kettle of fish) and the loo and wash hand basin will need dried off after every shower!
After lunch we waited for the gas engineer to arrive. He was coming to install smart meters for the gas and electricity. Such a lovely man. Very helpful and patient as our house is a bit out of the ordinary when it comes to...well virtually everything but especially power supplies.
He was able to install the electric smart meter but not the gas, as he hadn't been informed that due to the pool, we have a commercial gas supply and not a domestic one. He's going to come back in August to fit the gas one, and bring a couple of trainees who haven't seen a smart meter being fitted to a commercial supply before.
While he was working on the metre installation, he had to turn the electricity off. This meant the large fan that was preventing me from self combusting in the heat was turned off! I took myself to the living room where it was much cooler and crocheted some more of the heart baby blanket and enjoyed a tall glass of iced Humantra Himalayan lime electrolyte drink. Deliciously cooling.
D went upstairs to fix the shower door. We now need one new shower panel and a door. That went well then!
Actually it's not his fault, the main panel has come away from the wall. No idea how that's happened other than wear and tear. To be honest I've never been happy with how the shower panels were fitted but the job was completed just before lock down and of course thereafter life as we knew it stopped. Actually I've just read the blip from that time and see we were supposed to get new seals on the bottom of the shower door. I'm not sure that ever happened as there's always been some leakage. It clearly slipped from our radar during lockdown and became one of those things one just puts up with!
Dinner tonight was delicious and effortless. My favourite combination :-) Side of salmon brushed with rose harissa paste, with Hairy Dieters fennel orange salad with harissa dressing. We thought there might be left overs for tomorrow's lunch but it was so delish we scoffed the lot! Not even a morsel of salmon left over for Lola!
Talking of Lola, we thought she had a wart developing on her lower lip but this morning it looked much bigger. Turned out to be a tick! Hateful things! We check her thoroughly after every walk as Gleneagles moor and the Ochil Hills are full of deer ticks, but they don't normally latch on to her so this was a surprise. D managed to get it all out with the tick remover. Poor girl yelped when he got it out. She got a special treat of a little bit of cheese so he was soon forgiven :-)
Went for a wander in the garden to find a blip. It was still really warm. It's to get even hotter over the weekend and I heard on the radio we are now entering Scotland's first official heatwave of 2025. Probably the only last one too! :-)
Great to see lovely weather for the Genesis Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club near North Berwick. Hopefully show those watching from abroad that it doesn't always rain in Scotland :-)
I have now taken my nightly painkiller so going to do my best to visit some journals before the drowsiness kicks in!
Have a great weekend peeps :-) x
