The Lake at the Taylor Dam…..

……. Today….. 38mm in my rain gauge this morning. A lot of overnight rain for Blenheim but nothing compared with the huge amounts that fell over in Nelson/Tasman. This view shows the swollen Taylor River in the foreground. There is dried off Raupo in the mid-ground. It is growing in the actual lake. There is a channel connecting the lake to the river. It is full of flood water with the waters either moving into the lake from the river or draining out from the lake depending on conditions. For the moment the usual track around the lake is impassable. In any case, the public are currently prohibited from entering the lake environs.
