In the lavender
Another quiet day, replenishing energy reserves. There are so many places we could go which would be absolutely gloriously in this weather, but new meds and the prospect of a busy week ahead mean common sense prevails for once. And there’s the heat. It’s amazing to think we once spent summers backpacking and sleeping on beaches in scorching Greek summers, yet now we just seek shade!
The garden once again comes to my blip rescue. Lying on the grass in late afternoon once the tennis matches are over, I watch bees feeding in the lavender. Much of it is past its best by now - not that the bees seem to mind, seeking out the tiny flowers for their foraging. It’s great to see so many pollinators - including butterflies so much more in evidence than last year.
I’m no expert in identifying bees, but think this is a carder bee, with another in extras - looking positively gremlin-like, together with a honey bee.
