Blue and blue
I’m not sure whether this is a cardoon or an artichoke. It’s on the allotment next to mine, is very tall and an exquisite colour I think. I was down there in the morning to water. Not as early as I had intended, and it was already roasting. Has to be done, though, to keep things alive.
I actually stayed indoors sitting down for the rest of the day, as I felt a bit weird and dizzy. So I drank lots of water and used the fan the whole time. I watched Alcaraz win his semi final, and listened to the cricket at Lords
Our Friday night film club film was Borg vs McEnroe, topically enough. I had thought it was a recording of their famous final in 1980 but it was an actual film, with actors playing them (very well) and showing their lives up to that moment. Borg was characterised by the media at the time, very simplistically, as the ice cool Swede. But he really wasn’t at all. Nowadays we would say he had mental health problems. Anyhow, it’s a good dramatic film about tennis - and it was lovely to see him sitting in person in the crowd at the Alcaraz match, now 69.
Talking of cricket - I had to leave the back-door open when I went to bed. I don’t now if it’s climate change, but I’ve not seen a grasshopper or bush-cricket (not sure) in my garden before , let alone in the house. It decided to rest on the top of my back door, luckily I spotted it. And I really couldn’t figure out a safe way to get it down, so I left it. It’s not there this morning.
