Knapweed fritillary
Apparently these butterflies are not found in the UK but are common in this region. The collective noun is a flutter, rabble or flight of butterflies. I learnt the other day, when Lords cricket ground was invaded by butterflies, that the collective noun is a loveliness of ladybirds which I thought was rather lovely in itself. I made more bread in the morning so the freezer would be well stocked and then went down to the market. I saw the first victory of a British doubles pairing for 89 year, a longer wait than the victory of Andy Murray in the singles. There should be fireworks in the village tonight as part of the Bastille day holiday weekend but, with storms around, it may not happen.
