Inverness and Dolphin Cruise
Back Blip
The hotel does a great breakfast, a buffet with everything you could possibly imagine. I helped myself to orange juice, toast, bacon, egg, black pudding, tattie scone, and mushrooms, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Breakfast is the meal I love in hotels. There is a party of Germans in the hotel, also some Italians and Swedes, along with an assortment of English and Scots.
After breakfast we headed to Inverness where we had some time for coffee. Bob and I headed riverside and had coffee and cake at the Palace Hotel terrace, (extra) which was lovely, except for two seagulls which tried to divebomb us for food. We solved that by moving to a table with an umbrella.
Alex our coach driver then took us to the mouth of the River Ness where it meets the sea and we boarded the 'Dolphin Spirit' for our cruise...... sailed out towards Chancery Point and our luck was in as we saw some dolphins, and enjoyed seeing them playfully coming out and diving down. A few years ago I walked to Chancery Point from Fortrose, but didn't see any dolphins.
The weather was perfect, calm and 20C,
On the way home I caught a glimpse of Slioch, a Munro, so managed to take a photo, not too good but good for my memories. (extra)
After dinner back at the hotel, we had entertainment from a piper and a guy with a variety of instruments, including accordian. They were both very talented, and the piper played my request for 'My Home' . (Extra)
A full on day and evening, and we will sleep well.
