July Moths
A very busy morning. I was up early and opened doors and windows to try to cool down an extraordinarily hot bungalow. Then after breakfast I went round to my neighbours at 7:30 to see the opening of their moth trap. Not as many larger moths this month, it was bizarrely a cool night after such a hot day. The moths in my collage starting with the larger photo are an oak eggar, small elephant hawk moth, lesser broad-bodied yellow underwing, ruby tiger (with the red upper legs), rosy footman, scarce silver-lines (green), early thorn and black arches. Then I walked into town to volunteer from 9 until 1 at the charity shop - a last minute arrangement last night.
This afternoon I watched the men's doubles final, well done to the Brits for winning. I was looking forward to a close ladies final, but it was not to be with a 6-0, 6-0 win by Iga Swiatek. She was clinical and in superb form, but also Anisimova was very nervous and appeared not to have got herself back up after a brilliant match beating the World no.1 in the semi final. I felt so sorry for her, and for the crowd as the match lasted under an hour.
