The Track Through the Trees

The Taylor River at the Omaka Ford is still impassable due to the recent flooding. I was amazed this morning to see that one half of the concrete structure has disappeared into the flood water. An enormous pad of concrete. I can only assume the recent earthquakes have caused this to happen. It just shows the awesome power of nature.
So the dogs and I took our walk alongside the true left bank of the river. We ventured to Turnbull’s Vineyard and then up a small terrace and along a narrow track which connects up with Taylor Pass Road. Mountain Bike riders favour this track as once they cross Taylor Pass Road they can connect up with the network of mountain bike tracks in the Wither Hills Farm Park.
Once we had reached the road at the end of the track we turned back and retraced our steps back along the river-side tracks to the vehicle. It made for a nice change from our usual walks. I stopped to photograph the track leading through the trees toward the river tracks. The sun was shining a little which made for some nice patterns of light.
