Shade
Today I took Django for a walk along the old railway, which is mostly in shade, so it was pleasantly cool, and attractive with patches of strong sunlight breaking through the broadleaf canopy. When dropping down to Roslin Glen, there was a lot of this orange hawkweed looking great in the full sun.
We followed the river into the narrow part of the Glen, where Django ended up paddling along the river. He ignored my calls to re-join me, and ended up somewhere that he couldn't get out. So I had to drop down to find somewhere feasible and encourage him to get up to me. To prevent a repetition, I then decided to go to the path at the top of the slope, but managed to get up one section where he couldn't follow! Hence I could hear him in the undergrowth, but couldn't see him! What a farce! After I'd gone back down to find him, we walked together after that, and ended up at Mavisbank House (see extra). Despite all the notices about applications to change windows in a listed property - nothing has happened since I was last there a few months ago. I guess they want to be sure that the huge and important task of restoring the house is done properly. Walking up from the valley to get the bus home, time was a little tight, and Django was labouring - so I'm glad I wasn't with him in the Cairngorms.
Back home, I showered, ate, and watched the Wimbledon Men's Doubles final. Then, after washing up and doing a bit of sweeping, I picked A up from the airport, before catching up on the remarkable Women's Singles final.
