Stavanger #2
We wandered through the narrow streets of Øvre Strandgate in Gamle Stavanger (old town), this morning. As we had seen when we visited the old town in Bergen two years ago all of the houses are made of wood.
It was very hot again today so we were glad that there were some shaded areas where we could stop and sit and watch the world pass by. It was also fine for giving our feet a rest as all the streets are cobbled and walking on them takes its toll.
Later we stopped by the harbour/Petroleum Museum to have a beer and enjoy the views out to sea. You may know that the cost of living in Norway is very high (as are wages and salaries) and alcohol, in particular, is expensive! No, make that extortionate!
After I had taken my first sip of my beer Mrs CBL informed me that the sip had just cost me 70p! It caused me to gulp, which cost me £3.50!!
After Fika back at the hotel we walked up by the cathedral and city park. The cathedral was closed to visitors as there was a wedding taking place. We saw the bride and groom as we walked through the park and I took a photo for them to include in their wedding day album!
The extras illustrate the story, one of them, entitled ‘In the Pink’ is in the style of the esteemed blipper, Martin Dawe!
BVL!
