Beginning to feel more like summer

A hot day and, despite having slept, I was still somewhat out of sorts. In fact, it even spread into my professional life. How I struggled to motivate myself to translate today – it was appalling. I did just under 2,000 words, but it took me all day and when I re-read it at the end, I found so many examples of my own turgid prose that I almost deleted it and started again. Almost.
 
Ottawacker Jr. was out finding pleasure in his new freedoms. He is discovering places I haven’t even heard of. Chapel Hill? WTF? Apparently, it is out by Orleans.
 
In the late afternoon, we were invited over to Thomas and Elissa’s. A lovely couple, despite him being, like me, of English stock. Sat and ate out on their back deck, before the mosquitoes got to us. Then moved inside.
