River swim
It was so hot I was positively dripping in sweat by 9.30 this morning after making an early start on some gardening jobs. After that I retreated and caught up with my sister before heading into town to do some shopping and get another retirement card. Yet more unsettling work change.
I returned home to watch the women’s Wimbledon final. Poor Amanda Anisimova.
It was still hot at 6 but I got the bike out for a cycle and then a wander along the Lyvennet and had a river dip for a change. The heat, the deep shade opening out into a sunlit field of backlit meadowsweet with butterflies flitting and the sound of the water made for an otherworldly atmosphere made quite surreally filmic on my return by seeing an elderly mother and her daughter sat having a picnic in the meadow with proper wine glasses (it’s not the most accessible of places) and then back in the woods two boys with fat tyre unicycles.
