Anniversary Walk and Dinner
Our last full day in High Peak was the backdrop for our 45th wedding anniversary. After breakfast we made haste to begin our walk into the hills before it became too hot. This time the hilly climb was negotiable without too much strain, and studying the contours on the AllTrails map helped choose paths that were not too steep. To the left of this photo were Kinder Scout and Kinder Low, but this is a view of Jacobs Ladder, named after one of my favorite Bible stories. I also wanted to include the remarkable stone wall which are a major feature of the countryside round here. They never cease to amaze me just how impressive these constructions are.
In the evening we took another walk into the village to celebrate our 45 years at the Pack Horse where we were greeted at our table by a thoughtful card signed by the team marking the occasion - see extra. Sophie, our waitress was excellent and we found out she was doing a sponsored sky dive to raise money for the care of the mentally ill. Many of the local businesses here were supporting her in her endeavour - it was encouraging to hear of community acting together for the good of those suffering. A good day all round
