never too old for...

a wimbledon cake on your birthday! 
It's J's birthday (right). H, his partner looks on. M, behind, made the cake. It was a nice afternoon, potluck lunch, dessert and cake..
The cheese straws were a resounding success, twisted (thanks Moloh) to make them look less rustic. And our salmon went down well too. 
It was a busy day. Dropped the food off then dashed to Saturday morning tennis (which we won). I hadn't quite got my timings right so ended up getting changed in the car & off to the afternoon do.. Always both interesting and tiring to spend time with new-ish people: we know them from tennis but this is one of the first social occasions we've done with them. 
Home for a bit of quiet and Wimbledon "highlight". Swiatek unstoppable, Anisimova very dignified in defeat I thought. Everyone locally very excited about men's doubles as Julian Cash has a lot of connections around here & one of the afternoon guests had been his psychology A level teacher..
