Good News, Bad News

My mail deliveries have become intermittent to put it nicely. Today I had my first delivery for over a week, and it was a bumper pile of post for both me and my son.

In there was good news and bad news.

The results of my Bowel Cancer screening - all clear.

An ISA is due to mature  - also good news.

The car tax is due - an infinite percentage increase, having gone from zero to £195 - it was inevitable, the government needed to start recovering the lost revenue. It was announced under the previous administration. At some point they have to replace the revenue they are losing from the fuel tax.

One of my business bank accounts is being changed so that it is no longer free, a £10 per month fee is being introduced. Since I am about to retire I will have no reason to maintain that account any more, so bad news for the bank, no £10 a month from me, just one less customer.
