Pretty much perfect reflections
And in the extra too…
We were determined to get Buttermere at its best. Getting up at 6.30, taking a flask of tea, nuts and apricots we were at Buttermere lakeshore for 8.00am. Plenty of people about even at that time. Many camper vans where people had obviously stayed overnight and also tents where there should not be tents.
Nevertheless conditions were perfect and still. We could hear chatter and barking dogs from across the other side of the lake.
We intended to walk to a swimming spot we’d seen on Friday then go back to the flat for breakfast. We had a wonderful swim, cool but not cold, surrounded by those majestic fells.
While sitting on the shore afterwards having tea and snacks we decided to complete the Buttermere circuit rather than retrace our steps. Just a beautiful walk.
By the time we were back at Buttermere village the place was busy. By leaving the National Trust carpark we created a space for one lucky visitor. We were home by 11.00, shower and brunch followed by a snooze.
The day was rounded of by a visit to Keswick Rugby Club to meet up with Jane and Adam for a drink. The view from the club’s balcony must be one of the best anywhere with Skiddaw, Little Man, Ullock Pike, Longside, Carl Side and Dodd looking down on the pitch.
The beer was ok too as were an order of chips
