Flower Week ...
Flowers Flowers Everywhere! We've had a bit of rain, so the flowers are beginning their 'show'! The butterflies, hummingbirds and bees are all really happy and so am I. So, this week I'll feature some of these blooming beauties.
Today's bloom is from one of our Bougainvilleas. I have five plants in clay pots. They migrated with me from Miami to G'ville 20 years ago. Bougainvillea is a native of Mexico, Brazil, Bolivia Paraguay, Peru and Argentina. It grows well in South Florida but growing 'Villea' here in NC Florida can be a bit challenging. They do well if watered sparingly and enjoy full sun. Come winter they live quietly in our small greenhouse. Buzzers of all kinds enjoy their flowers and no one likes their thorns! I carry scars from my dealings with Bougainvillea bushes in Miami! I do have one plant that is a thornless variety.
Enjoy! m
