Flower Week Day 2 Cosmos...

Cosmos, up close and personal.
'Cosmos' is both a genus and common name for these flowering plants in the daisy family. This one is likely C. sulphureus. Their color varies between different species, of which there are close to 40. Cosmos species are native to scrub and meadows from Colorado and Missouri south all the way to Argentina. They are easy to grow, reseed readily and have naturalized across much of the eastern U.S. and eastern Canada. This one was blooming next our patio, to the delight of the buzzers.
