Fauna Stone
Today's Mono Monday has a theme of "stone", and I live in Lancaster: a city that had at least three working quarries when most of it was built, and is full of the stuff.
So where did I go today? That's right, away from the almost completely stone city centre and into the very unstony Fairfield Nature Reserve.
But there was some method in my madness; there are several pieces of stone in the nature reserve, that say "Fauna" and "Fairfield Orchard" and stuff like that.
This one is next to a brand new wildflower area. Of course, the whole area is full of wildflowers, but they tend to be marsh type flowers, and hedgerow stuff. This new bit is for meadow-type flowers. Alas, they aren't very apparent in this shot, but then the point was stone, not flora.
Another possible Mono Monday entry in the extras, and a blackbird who I have named McCartney.
Many thanks to our host.
