Light on the mountain side

We had plans to go cycling up the valley today but when we woke up this morning it was raining. So instead, after breakfast we went into the village, had some coffees and then set off on a wet walk. It was a lovely temperature for walking but a bit drizzly. Then it was back to the apartment for a quick lunch, as our friends were leaving today on the 1.30pm train back to Zurich to fly home again. It was a very sweet and short visit from them, but when they booked to come here they were anxious to overstay their visit in case Gavin was not well.

Soon after they left the sun came out and it was a bright and pleasant afternoon. We tidied up and washed the bedding and then set off on a walk. It got rather warm, so we sat on a bench half way up the mountain looking across the valley at this view, as the light was moving across lighting up those barns. This year there are so many wild orchids about and I spotted quite a few butterflies.

As we got back from our walk we bumped into our neighbour. She lost her husband about a year ago, so was staying here on her own. She had back surgery recently and it did not go that well as she has lost a bit of balance so she now struggles to walk and carry anything, so we helped her carry her shopping into her apartment. 

Tonight will be a relaxing evening watching some TV.
