A day in the life

Poetry and gardening

I met up with Eva, the poet, this morning. She wanted us to meet at my place because her house was full of relatives and she needed an escape. We planned a short concert program consisting of poems by Gustaf Fröding, one of Swedens main poets from the beginning of the 19-hundreds. Eva reads some of his poems and I will sing some of the ones  set to music. This will take place in August at a poetry reading in Kalmar where Eva is one of the organisers. It's been a long time since we last did something like this.

The summer has been weird, no real warmth, a *lot* of wind and too little rain. The plants hasn't liked it at all, the wind has dried out everything and also destroyed some of the bushes and higher plants. The berries are very few and small and there are masses of little bugs that eats the leaves and buds of the flowers. This is how the raspberry bush is doing, the berries ought to be twice as big and a lot more of them. I'm not a big gardener and some of the problems this year could surely have been helped by me, if I knew a bit more about what to do. So, everything will be eaten at once this year, nothing gets saved or processed.
