Bastille Day, which means it's...
...our wedding anniversary! 41 years ago in Suffolk, in Woodbrige Methodist Church, Jan and I got married.
We got together in Sweden, lived here three years and then returned to Britain, but fairly quickly decided Sweden actually was the place for us. So, shortly before we returned we took the opportunity to get married with our friends and family around us, in the church we'd been attending. It was an excellent move. Like any couple we have had our ups and downs but I never regretted getting married to Jan!
All our visitors had gone home yesterday so we had the day to ourselves and the whole day felt very relaxed. In the morning, after a slowish start we attacked the lupins, so some of the relaxation was hard work but as it started to get too warm to work outside we headed off to lunch/breakfast in town. After that we'd planned a swim but somehow it seemed more reasonable to get the hammocks out so this is the view from my hammock. Jan's toes, her book, and the lake at the bottom of the hill, plus a lot of sun and blue sky.
Just above the hammock strap there's a nesting box, currently occupied by two pied flycatchers and their recently hatched brood. I watched them zoom in to the box, stay a second or two and then zoom away again. The sight of them working so hard made me even more relaxed and I almost fell asleep.
A lovely day! And the forecast is for more lovely days so maybe we'll go for a swim tomorrow!
