Downward Facing
Nuthatches are quite difficult to capture because they dart about at such speed, often on the opposite side of a trunk. They seem to like working down the trunk upside down. I haven't seen that many, except perhaps on feeders. I find their characteristic craned neck and upturned head posture quite charming.
Can't tell if this is male or female without seeing the crown, males have black, females grey. But no rusty patches to the rear indicates a juvenile.
Knowing it would likely come around the trunk, I focused there and waited. Lovely against the soft pale green background.
Extra: Perfect Balance. A common grackle, playing with his mates.
