My day

Mending

I have just lost all my notes so will start again.

I dragged the sewing machine out this morning to do some alterations to Bob’s shirts. Mum and Dad gave me this Elna for my 21st birthday so it is now 50 years old and still reliable. I have made evening clothes for myself (before children), kid’s clothes, 2 wedding dresses, 3 bridesmaid’s dresses, and all manner of other jobs. It was a great gift. In the background is a sewing box my Mother in law gave me. At the time I thought it was an odd present (I was in my 20s and not really after a sewing box) but I have used it ever since. Nanna died when she was 55 so we didn’t have many years together.

My cousin Brian died a couple of weeks ago and his funeral service was held today in Adelaide. I was sent a link and was able to watch from home. I got 10cm knitting done which was good and also had a few cups of tea. It was a long service as he was a devout Catholic and they had a full Mass. after that I braved the weather and did some gardening, it was 8 degrees and drizzling. It didn’t feel too cold as there was no wind but I did get rather damp.

Bob has a bad dose of the cold. He really looks miserable. He has only had a couple of colds in the last few years so it has got him well and truely.
