A New Start To The Season
No the new season does not mean I’m viewing matches from the Gorgie Stand (that’s just where I got my tickets for, the club not making my usual seat available, again) the new season (league cup section game against Dunfermline) is the start of a couple of important changes at Tynecastle the first being our new first team coach Derek McInnes, who I am warming to after being disappointed initially with his appointment, the second being the input from Tony Blooms millions and his Jamestown Analytics software to identify up and coming talent. As to the game the team started with the same set up as last season but with one of our new forwards on the right wing. They started well for about 10-15 minutes, reverted back to last season, then picked up after a couple of substitutions eventually winning comfortably 4-1 with a brace of penalties from our recently resigned captain Lawrence Shankland (extra). All good but we need to get game time in for the new guys to bring them up to the speed of the Scottish game.
Oh the other unique aspect to the game was the presence of my long distanced pal, Arnie, the last time he was over from South Africa he saw Hearts lose to Kilmarnock about 8-9 years ago. At least he went home happy seeing the Jambo’s win though a couple of beers in the BMC afterwards might have helped.
