Ijmuiden aan Zee

The Rhine Cycle Path, Day Fourteen:

A last run along the river and then into town for a final cheese croissant (they’d run out, so we had to have apricot – talk about First World problems…) before we checked out of our hotel and headed for home, planning to take the time to cycle down to the beach at Ijmuiden before we headed for the ferry.  Unfortunately the last few K – straight into a fairly fierce headwind – were pretty hard going and ‘the strip’ at Ijmuiden was hardly very inspiring when we did get there. We had a scratch picnic in the sand to recover and went for an early embarkation instead…
