The Same But Different

Hoo boy, did we have an awful storm last night. The thunder was so powerful that it shook the camper. The rain was incredibly heavy. And it lasted for hours. I kept thinking of those poor campers in the Texas highlands. Hubby assured me that we were far from a river. That didn’t let me sleep though. We have several folks camping in tents at this park. I sure hope they were in their vehicles. We were up by six, showered before the rush for the bath house and had breakfast. Last night, we moved anything that could be damaged by wind or rain to the camper. Our table and chairs under the awning were wet but everything survived the storm without issue. Hubby rode his bike throughout the campground. I took a walk after lunch to see how other sites managed. There was plenty of evidence of swift and heavy movements of rain but that was about it. These yellow American blushers were along the way. We had a storm at home as well but no one reported any damage or power outages. We’ve spent the rest of the day reading outside, enjoying the cooler temps assisted by our powerful fan. There is thunder in the distance so we’ll be moving inside soon. We may try to walk one of the trails tomorrow. My test trip around the circle indicated the right heel can make it assisted by a cane/trekking pole. Our mother seems to be settling in at my sister’s. That has been an unnecessary worry. Sugar is her constant companion. She wouldn’t leave Momma’s bed during their storm last night. Such a good protector. Wishing you a protector when you need it. Stay safe. Thanks for visiting. “Nature alone is antique, and the oldest art a mushroom.” - Thomas Carlyle
