Fete accompli
Fair to say that there were a few sore heads this morning, but it was totally worth it.
The chaps and I were out early doors to get to the lake for a few hours fishing. The heat was phenomenal, but fortunately, we were able to find a nice spot in the shade of a few large trees.
The fishing itself wasn’t bad either with mine host bringing in a Brown Goldfish (never seen or head of one before) and me bagging a few nice roach.
The third member of our party sat and chatted with us, seemingly quite happy to have left all of his fishing stuff at home.
Despite a bit of an argument between the site owner and some absolute morons razzing their car about the place, things quietened down and we made our way to a mill-based pub. It was lovely, but our failure to secure any cover meant that we very quickly cooked in the glare of the sun!
Heading back to base camp, we freshened up and then took a walk over to Tilford Village Green where the fete was in full swing and despite the heat, was well attended. Really liked the rafts that had been constructed for an event later that day (extra). We wandered and drank and ate and watched a couple of rounds of tug o war before deciding it was too hot for all of this malarky and walked back through the woods to home.
I was the only guest remaining at that point, so I joined my host in a few cold ones and putting the world to rights all the while looking out across some beautiful land as the light faded.
We then proceeded to eat even more.
