Tiger Stripes
…on a butterfly. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of these - called Jersey Tiger or Spanish Flag - in our area before; but today, B and I spotted two of them on our walk. As soon as they are flying, their second pair of wings makes them very visible with their striking red colour, but they are much better camouflaged when they are resting.
We saw quite a lot of butterflies on our walk, including the swallowtail in the extra. But as the Spanish Flag is Germany’s butterfly of the year 2025, it had to become my main blip.
