Stand

About four weeks ago, I blipped about the cheap stand I’d bought for my Taylor acoustic. Technically, it was a ukulele stand but it sort of did the job.
However…I picked up the “Blackcaster” from R&T yesterday after it had been properly set up. I thought it might cost around £50 so was pleasantly surprised that I was only charged £30! Stupidly, I mentioned to Vaughan the figure I’d had in mind, though he said nothing at that point. Then I happened to spot an electric guitar on a stand like this and commented how nice the stand looked.
That was when Vaughan moved in for the kill. In short order, I was told that they also did an acoustic version of the stand, there “might” be one in stock and they were on special offer at the moment - 50% off list price. And guess what? List price was £39.99 so the offer price would be…£20!
Of course he had one in stock and of course I bought it. So I ended up spending the £50 I’d originally budgeted for after all but, by using “man maths”’ I can argue that as I was prepared to spend £50 on the set up, then the stand was actually free.
And the old stand won’t be wasted. Regular readers will know that I “acquired” a ukulele after this year’s Panto, and that now sits proudly on display, rather than in its bag up in the loft.
The study is beginning to look more and more like a music room every day…
