Lac d’Aude

There were six of us walking today. We drove up to the ski station of Les Angles and then walked up a further 400 metres to the lake where we had our picnic lunch. The lake is at 2,140 m but the temperature was still in the high 20’s even at this altitude. The heat made the walk more tiring than usual but fortunately we walked through quite a few wooded areas where there was shade. We walked 13 kilometres in all and it was a rare luxury to finish the walk at the car park where there were cafes and ice cream stands. An ice cream seemed well deserved.
