Birthday present!
A slight mizzle this morning soon gave way to a bright sunny day, as the weather app predicted. Archie and I went round to meet Amanda and John in the Links - we all love to see him running to them and being excited to see them.
JR and I then went off to Piggs in Bruntsfield to meet up with a friend and have a tapas lunch. We had booked the nice seat in the window. And what a feast we had. Everything we ordered was very tasty, including the specials of white asparagus and a baked tortilla sort of pie thing. And a huge plate of fries smothered in grated manchego cheese that lasted us for the whole meal. Chicken, calamari, and prawns were the other tasty plates. And a bottle of cava went down well too.
The others headed off for a coffee, while I headed home to be here for Archie coming home, though I did manage a wee snooze before they arrived.
Archie today was full of beans! NO sore leg, NO sitting down refusing to go the way they wanted. They were up at the top of Blackford Hill. When they came back we all sat out in the back garden, where it was roasting!
As soon as they'd gone, I got my special birthday present out - a long hedge trimmer, to reach the top of the hedge without going up ladders. Many people have suggested this to me, and in fact I did get one a couple of years ago, but it was impossible for me to use - just too heavy. This is a lighter one (2.14kg) but of course, most of the weight is at the business end. But I had a go, whizzing along the top of the hedge in no time. One side of the hedge is too wide to be able to do it from both sides, so I'll have to get up on the wee ladder with the clippers to tidy it up. Easy peasy.
