Canyonland

S wasn’t up to being out and about today, stinking cold and all, so I abandoned her and joined S&W on a trip to Pinghanshu Grand Canyon. I’d read that this was a must visit and was fairly new on the tourist trail so not too busy; happily both were true! There was the usual bus ride out to some viewing platforms, walking up and down paths and steps and getting some stunning views but then it was a straight trek down to the foot of the canyon with plenty of short, vertical ladders to enjoy. That was great and mostly in shade but still tiring because of the altitude. The recommended exit from the canyon then had to be tried - two long, vertical ladder ascents, the first one which left me a bit puggled and the second which left me completely done in. I’ll add an Extra just for the memories. After that it was a mere 600m ascent in full sun to get to the rim. The wee sales guy there was doing a grand business in ice lollies!
Back to the hotel for another beer and pot noodle lunch, we’ll head out later in the ‘cool’ in search of a dumpling place.
