Beach Stroll

The tide was low this morning so we went to Hayling Island to give Merlin a run on the beach. He had a fun time splashing in the shallows - and eating seaweed! The beach was relatively empty. Just a scattering of walkers and dogs, and one horse cantering along the sand. I stopped to appreciate the silvery light reflecting off the surface of the water and the patterns of clouds in the sky.

This afternoon I’ve made a batch of courgette chutney following a River Cottage recipe I successfully used last year. Hopefully this will be the first of several runs of this kind of chutney as we quickly consumed the 12 jars of it I made last year.
