A new family of Tufted Ducks

I wasn't expecting to see the latest additions to the life on Maxwell Park pond but mum was doing a good job looking after her youngsters ..... no males to be seen anywhere!
A couple I was speaking to told me that there were eight little ones but they were scooting around so quickly that it was almost impossible to capture the whole family in one photo.

As I was walking back to the car I spotted the heron watching from his lofty position at the top of a tree ..... just hope that all he did was watch!
