Friday: Alleyway
Today wasn’t the most interesting of days so I thought I’d share this particular irritant with you.
Our house is an Edwardian terrace but there is an alley that leads off our back garden, past the back of our neighbour’s house and along the side of his house and the next house along (in essence, it’s an L shape, leading away from our garden). All three houses have access to the alley but this is the section that leads directly to our garden. The red building is in our neighbour’s garden.
When we bought the house we cleared the back alley and left it in a good state. When we moved back in after renting the house out for 13 years we found………this.
Basically, our neighbour has been using it as a dumping ground. I’ve spoken to him about it and said that, as it’s an access point to our house, it needs to be clear. He has said that his plan is to clear it and then concrete it so that the weeds can’t thrive. But nothing has happened and it’s just getting more and more overgrown.
It’s all very irritating. Our neighbour is 85 so we have to be realistic about what he can achieve. He’s also a bit of a hoarder so I don’t think clearing things out is in his nature. We could clear it again but that’s more time and expense and the problem is not of our making.
It’s all very irritating but I can see that I’m going to have to have another conversation with George.
