I couldn't resist it
Backblip
Warmer and less windy and a quieter day generally.
FIrst a visit to Cregneash, though we didn't actually go in but had a short walk to some interesting chambered cairns on the hill. There were 6 pairs in 3 groups in an overall circle (extra).
Then a short walk to The Chasms, a geological formation where there are high, almost vertical splits in the cliffs. Razorbills and Guillemots nesting a choughs (extra).
Then to The Sound and the most westerly part of the island which was busy with coach parties and bikers but you didn't have to go far to get away from them. The main attraction was seals, more than 30, being quite vocal and fighting, in between lounging around. (extra).
Some of the bikers seemed to have had the same idea - the lying around, that is, they weren't fighting or making a lot of noise!
Mis-afternoon the cafe was fairly quiet so we had a meal there before heading back north.
