The male emperor dragonfly was here harassing the brown hawker every time he came up into his water space. The hawker never learnt and so it continued. Escorted all the way.
The canal at Tewkesbury was dry. Far more dry than I had ever seen it and in parts there was just a mud bottom. Everything living was starting to congregate into wet spaces.
We left the New Forest today and motored back up to Gloucestershire making a slight detour to a shop which sells the most amazing seafood. Seeing these guys working with their knives is a sight to behold and very fascinating. We went in there for crabs for supper tonight.
This has been our first trip with just one dog and Millie was the most perfect yes I will reiterate that the most perfect dog to take away. The Forest Park Hotel were so very well set up for pooches and they had every imaginable welcoming comfort as you see in extra.
Did I say perfect .... we were having breakfast this morning and suddenly heard what I would class as Millies hedgehog yap rather than proper bark. We waited for a few minutes as there were quite a few dogs in the hotel but you know really you are going to have to leave the table and see what was what.
I trotted upstairs (- no I didn't I carefully gravitated up there) opened the bedroom door and was met with a very nervous dog. Hugely scarey obviously as she jumped as the door opened but even more scary was the flannel!!!!! Pesky flannels! The hotel had given us blankets etc which included a grey flannel which I'd folded up and put on her pile of things to return. She was in a state - I shook the flannel, told it off replaced it folded and she soon stopped acting like a cheetah round the room ready for prey.
We have had a lovely time. I've been in contact with Deb and had a laugh and although we are both obviously disappointed we are being able as we have years of history to joke about it. Things happen.
