Tudorfest!

King Henry VIII visited Linton today as part of a fundraising event 'Tudorfest' organised by my friend Gill Lee.

We woke up to dreadfully wet weather and almost constant rain forecast.  All the outside activities had to be brought indoors and unfortunately the gazebo, that I spent 2 hours helping to put up in the morning, wasn't used in the end, as it was simply too wet to be outside at all.

Nevertheless there was a constant stream of people all day and the church was packed for the evening (paid for) event.  We enjoyed listening to beautiful singing by Jay Britton, joined in with bawdy songs, and Tudor dancing, and learned about the musical instruments of the time and tasted some Tudor food.  The Tudors looked amazing and I was especially delighted by the bouncy dancing...and yes...the codpieces.  King Henry VIII was known for wearing an unusually large one,  serving as a display of his virility, wealth, and power! Bravo Gill for organising a great day, I hope you have raised lots of money.
