Bamber Button
This is a statue of Bamber Gascoigne to whom West Horsley Place, aka Button House in the BBC comedy series 'Ghosts', was bequeathed in 2015 by his aunt Mary, Duchess of Roxburgh. He set up a Trust to renovate the building which was in a state of disrepair. The statue overlooks Grange Park Opera House which was built in the grounds as part of Bamber Gascoigne's wish to make full use of the house and estate to promote culture, heritage and nature. The opera house is modelled on La Scala, Milan and seats 700. It opened in 2017. Next year it embarks on Wagner's Ring Cycle with one of the operas each year until 2030.
The extra shows the front of 'Button House' with the car driven by the characters, Alison and Mike, (Alison having inherited the house from a distant aunt), parked in front.
