Sulphur Mountain
Today we headed south west to Lake Akan. Like most of Japan, it has active volcanos and Sulphur Mountain where we stopped along the way was one such. It was quite spectacular watching the bright yellow sulphurous mounds belch out their steam. Sulphur was once mined here.
So now it's 10.30pm. We are in a hotel whose outward appearance is respectable but the room is a shocker. Not since I stayed at the Ivanhoe Hotel in Blackheath have I stayed in such an appalling place. After a revolting dinner we headed off for a dance performance by the Ainu people. I was really interested to see this but it was more a light show than anything else.
Sleep tight blippers. Happy start to the week.
