Marjorie's ramblings

Selfoss

This morning we spent time at Dettifoss and Selfoss. Every waterfall we have seen has been different and the challenge has been to find the best camera technique and composition for each one.

One member of our group moans whenever waterfalls are mentioned. She wants to see “other things”, but doesn’t like birds or wildflowers either.

We were soaked at Dettifoss, but went prepared. It was fun.

I do not usually like a milky water effect, but I do like it in my blip.

Later we went to the remarkable geothermal area, Hverir. Here you can walk quite close to the bubbling, boiling mud pools. Steam escapes from the ground all around. There was a lot to see here. I spent ages trying to capture the mud bubbles as they burst. It’s tricky because there is little contrast in the image. They may do well in mono when I return home. See extra for now.

We had our last evening meal at Kaffi Borgir tonight. The wonderful chef made food just for us. His recipes are extraordinary. Bread is made underground in a geothermal area. Tonight he slow cooked lamb ribs in the same “cooker”. The lamb was cooked for 19 hours to make sure it was tender.

Tomorrow we move on. Tomorrow is my 15th blip anniversary. Will it be another waterfall I wonder?!
