Life is a Challenge!

NOT MONO MONDAY BUT THERE IS PLENTY OF WOOD!

I did look at the challenge for MM and saw it was wood and was quite prepared to look for something and turn it into a mono shot, but quite honestly, when something drops into your lap - although I’m glad this tree didn’t do that literally - you have to go with the flow!

When we came back from having a coffee at Jack’s, we saw a huge crane and thought it must have been parked at the nearby lake and sorting out the trees there - because some of them look as if they need sorting out.

However, hearing lots of noise, I couldn’t resist going down there to find out exactly what was happening.  The tree being felled was obviously in the back garden of a house not that far from where we live.  I chatted to the guys who were doing the work - well why wouldn’t you when you were after a decent Blip - and they said that the tree had to come down because it was too close to the property.

So here is “part” of the story of the demise of this oak tree:

From the top left and going clockwise - Sam who is obviously doing most of the cutting down, then a pile of branches.  The next shot shot is the huge crane, then a couple of the guys taking a breather.  Next is a shot of the crane lifting a huge part of the tree and swinging it over the roof of the house.  The three guys are then making sure it goes into their lorry at the right angle.  The penultimate shot is one of the guys making sure it’s in the right place and the final shot in the middle is Sam, who came to get his axe!  When I made a comment to him, he said “Now the important work begins!”

All in all a lovely half an hour spent chatting with these guys from BGG Garden and Tree Care - so I am grateful to them all for allowing me to take photographs and chatting about their jobs.

Just as I left a young lad rode up on his bike to have a look - just the sort of thing that youngsters love - sad that a tree had to come down, but I guess when this was planted many years ago - and it could have been there when the property was built - but obviously much smaller - and like children, trees have a tendency to grow!

So apologies for not adhering to the MM side of the challenge, although there is plenty of wood!  Have a great week.  M xx

P.S. I decided to walk round and take a copy of my Blip and the photographs to the guys who were felling the tree and those helping.

They were delighted so one of them gave me a company card so that I could send an email to the boss.  They said they were well chuffed to see the photographs and then another guy came along who just happened to be the owner of the house.

I said I wish I’d known earlier he was there as I would’ve knocked the door to take a photograph from the garden, so he immediately said I could go in and take a photograph of where the tree used to be, which I did.

I also gave them my Blip address and told them I would put these photographs on as an extra.  Andy, the owner, said he was going to get his children to calculate the age of the tree from the rings in the trunk!

People are so kind and it got me a great Blip today - so thank you to all concerned.
