Everyday Life

Rain, Rain and More Rain!

There was none for ages but it's making up for lost time now! I did get a wash load dry outside before it started, but if I'd not noticed the rain when I did, it would have been drenched again. It absolutely rained grannies and sticks, as I think they say in Wales. Brian said that the amount of rain forced off two drain covers on Monks Road, the main road that runs parallel to ours!

This afternoon we had a huge thunderstorm! Usually Minstrel hides upstairs, but this time he relaxed on my lap instead. When he seemed alarmed by loud thunder, he was quickly calmed with neck scratches!

Fortunately the storm had moved on before I had to go out to Morrisons. As I walked I saw two girls aged about 12 or 13 standing on the pavement by a huge, deep puddle of standing water on the road, waiting for cars to go through it and drench them.  When there was no traffic they were lying down in the water. They were having a wonderful time!

My photo was taken of the Uni library by the river. You can see that the weather still looked quite threatening at that point.

Shopping is all done and away now and I can relax. The sun is out again now... Probably not for very long.
