What a day!
We went to Fairford for a bit of “park and view” – watching all the planes head off after the weekend.
One plane in particular really stood out. It marked a big moment in Paul’s career – both at the very beginning and the end. It was the first aircraft he worked on as an apprentice, and also one of the last he touched before retiring. So it felt quite fitting that it was one of the first we saw taking off today. Full circle stuff.
Now, onto the truly spectacular news…
He’s only gone and landed his dream job – practically dropped into his lap! He wasnt even looking for a job. Not in his usual line of work, a bit of a man-Friday gig for one of his actual heroes. Looking after his car collection and helping out on the estate. And I tell you, I couldn’t have wiped the grin off his face if I’d told him his gran had died (which she did, bless her, in 1976 – but you get my drift).
We headed to the pub to celebrate and map out the rest of our week. Got to enjoy the freedom while it lasts – next week it’s back to packed lunches and school-night rules! I'm planning what to do with my time as a car widow lol
