Quod oculus meus videt

Fledgling Robin

I was due at hospital first thing for some investigations, so grabbed a quick swim beforehand so I was showered and ready.

It would be indelicate to discuss what they were doing, suffice to say it required a long flexible tube and a camera. Unfortunately, I didn't get the preparations correct so it's going to have to be repeated!

I got home late morning and was sitting in the garden when I noticed movement in the apple tree. This little fledgling was coming down to feed from one of the suet balls. I just liked how it is starting to show which species it is, with the two small areas of red feathers on its chest. It had no fear of me, flying to within 4-5 feet, closer than the lens minimum focus distance, so I had to step back to get the image.
