A Prideful week: Tuesday
In the spirit of looking for the rainbows all around us for Pride week, today's blip efforts are the stained glass panels outside of of the Catholic Cathedral in Liverpool, which I passed on my way to the first of the week's "away days" (for away day read - a long meeting in another part of campus from the one you usually work in). The day was full of lots of talks (most of which went over time), the standard terrible coffee but it was great meeting up with lots of colleagues from across the Institute. Oh and I won an award (actually two, an individual one and then one for a team I'm in). So that was lovely. Hold onto your hats there's another away day tomorrow, bet you can't wait to hear all about it.
Today's away day was in The Tung Auditorium. An incredible performance space built by and for the Music Department a few years ago as part of the Yoko Ono Lennon centre. I had a little moment at lunch when I went to find Vicky's plaque (see extra). Vicky was one of my best friends, and died as a result of a brain tumour aged just 41 on 25.12.2020. We met through gig-going, and we went to a LOT together when we lived in Leeds. When she passed, my tribute to her memory was to commemorate a seat in the auditorium where she would be surrounded by music every night. Needless to say having reason to be in the building and so visit her seat again gave me pause for a big sob before carrying on with the rest of the day. 4.5 years on and I still miss her more than I can put into words.
Oh if any experienced blippers can advise on why the thumbnail for my photos keeps changing itself I would be grateful, as I couldn't get today's to stay on the rainbow despite having 2 tries at posting it!
